It’s Time For A Fancast! The Top 5 Picks To Play Squirrel Girl

It was announced that Marvel will be adding to its cinematic universe with its first 30-minute comedy show  – an adaptation of New Warriors. It will mark the second Marvel show on Freeform (formally ABC Family) after Cloak and Dagger. New Warriors is all about a group of teen superheroes with aspirations to be the next generation of Avengers. The group has been home to the likes of Nova, Firestar, Speedball, Darkhawk, Scarlet Spider, and many, many more over the years. Who exactly will make up the core group in this new live-action adaptation, remains to be seen. There is one character, however, that is getting all the attention. That character is Doreen Green – The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Despite never having been part of the team in the comics, she will join alongside the New Warriors in the show. Given how popular the character is (thanks to the delightful comic series by  Ryan North and Erica Henderson) it might as well be called Squirrel Girl and The New Warriors. Don’t let her seemingly lame superpower – the ability to communicate with Squirrels – fool you. She’s beaten the likes of  Thanos, Deadpool, and Doctor Doom.

Even though New Warriors has a whole superhero cast to fill, all anyone seems to care at the moment is “So Who’s Going To Play Squirrel Girl?”. No actress has been officially announced, nor is there any sort of rumored short list. It’s all too early for that. But what it is time for, is a wonderful thing called “Fan Casting”. Fan casting (sometimes dream casting or fantasy casting) is the practice of speculative casting, suggesting actors or other individuals to play characters without canonical real-life versions.

So here we are. Here are 5 actresses that could play the quirky, socially awkward, but still totally unbeatable, Squirrel Girl.
